Water
clarity declined at all stations with Secchi disk depth at Center Lake station
a meter less at 3.6 meters and North Bay a quarter meter less at 3.7. Cyanobacteria cell numbers show increases of
3x at Center lake station and 2x at North bay station. The cyanobacteria community has appeared to
have shifted from dominance by Aphanizonmenon to co-dominance by a variety of
taxa including Woronichinia, Oscillatoria, Anabaena, and Microcystis (not
counted in the surface sample but observed in deep water sample). Temperature gradients from top to bottom show
the lake continuing to stratify, despite surface temperatures dropping slightly
since last time. Dissolved oxygen in
bottom waters continues to decline with the first reading of anoxic water so
far this year at Center Lake, where the bottom meter was the only site with
anoxic water.
